Emotiv Insight

Emotiv Insight – a second generation neural interface with 5 sensors, a three-axis gyroscope, an accelerometer and a magnetometer.

Emotiv Insight

Emotiv Insight is a second generation neural interface device, developed by Emotiv. This device is equipped with five EEG sensors, as well as two additional sensors. In contrast to the previous model (Emotiv EPOC), this devices show better performance and functionality; it also has more ergonomic design.

Emotiv Insight is also equipped with three-axis gyroscope, accelerometer and magnetometer, which allows the device to track all the movements of user’s head and transform them into control commands. Emotiv Insight also features an extension port for direct data saving on a micro-SD card, as well as an external Insight Extendor accumulator, which increases autonomous operating time from 4 up to 16 hours.

Insight Extender

This device supports almost all modern platforms and operating systems: Windows (XP SP2, Vista, 7), Mac (10.5.x – 10.9.x), Linux (Ubuntu 12.04 and higher, Fedora), iOS (6.0 and higher) and Android (4.4 and higher). There’s a special software set for application developers.

Software, which comes with Emotiv Insight, allows users to create an unlimited amount of user profiles. During its operation, specific brain waves activity creates predefined control commands.

Insight Extender

Emotiv Insight provides two different channels to control software and computers, i.e. it tracks positions and rotations of the head of the user, as well as user's sight. Thus, when used as an assistive technology, this system will provide users with various levels of freedom, which depend on their physical condition. In order to provide communication means for fully or partially paralyzed people a special set of software has been already developed (Neuro Touch developed by Cortex Labs), which allows to type texts letter by letter with Emotiv Insight. This tracker can be used in rehabilitation centers or at home. All other people without any physical limitations can use this tracker in games (using NeuroLink software from Cortex Lab) and various applications on PCs or tablets.
